In this regard, the transport agency improvised the system of e-LKM, and e-LMM to facilitate their citizen.
The online renewals facility is a part of the ministry’s digitalization plans, which began on February 10, 2024, last year with the roll-out of the digital licenses and road-tax system, to save time and cost for road users and the government.

What is e-LKM and e-LMM?
These two different methods are regulated by the Malaysian transport authority to get the license of the vehicle and a driving license as well.
e-LKM

By eliminating the need for physical licenses, e-LKM and e-LMM contribute to a greener environment by reducing paper waste. There is no need for paper or any kind of paper substance to print it out.
Budget-friendly
It reduces the cost of paper that is used to print these licenses. And a lot of costs incurred to them. The digital method reduces these costs and it is budget-friendly for the authority. The authority also added that this move could save RM96 million a year that was previously used for printing of road tax and driving licenses.

To encourage the adoption of the digital driving license, JPJ will be offering an RM5 rebate for those who choose to renew their driving license digitally (e-LMM) from February 1, 2024, until the end of the year.
The offer is only valid for Malaysian citizens renewing digitally via JPJ counters, the mySIKAP portal, the MyJPJ app, or a JPJ partner (Pos Malaysia outlets and MyEG).

Problems regarding e-LKM, e-LMM
No, doubt it is the advanced system to regulate roads and transportation. But in the beginning, there are some problems faced by the users. Which makes it negligent to adopt this digital system.
